SK winner of BMO 1st Art! Invitational Student Art Competition


Rowan Pantel, a 2008 Art and Art History BFA graduate, has been named the Saskatchewan winner of the BMO Financial Group 1st Art! Invitational Student Art Competition for her print, "Fort a la Corne, Trail Three, Inversion One." Rowan Pantel is one of 13 provincial/territorial winners. Her work will be installed at the 1st Art! 2008 Exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, 952 Queen Street West, Toronto, Ontario, from October 7– October 26, 2008. She is an invited guest for the private reception to be held in Toronto, October 7, 2008. An advertisement announcing the winners of 1st Art! 2008 and including an image of her artwork will appear in the Fall issue of Canadian Art magazine. There will also be a small publication with images of each winning submission and abridged versions of each artist statement for the exhibition. The 1 Art! Invitational Student Art Competition celebrates exceptional achievements by studio art students in each province and territory in the country. One successful student from every province and territory is awarded $2,500 for his or her submission. A national winner is also selected from the entrants. In addition to their awards monies, each winner is given an all expenses paid trip to Toronto to attend the opening reception of the 1st Art!
